Action-packed weekend of Polo to round off successful season
An action-packed weekend of competitive polo and a visit by the British Horseball team planned for 27 and 28 September looks set to provide a thrilling finale to the 2008 season for White Rose Polo Club.
Based at Townend Farm at North Cliffe near Market Weighton, the club will host the second annual Tiger Trophy contest on Saturday 27, which is generously sponsored by The Tiger pub in North Newbald. This is an intra-club event and all members will take part.
On Sunday 28, the club is delighted to play host to the British horseball team, which will be visiting to play against an Argentinean side captained by Nico Taberna. Nico, who captained his national side at the Horseball World Championships in Portugal during the summer, joined White Rose Polo Club earlier this year. Before the match gets underway, Nico will give a horseball masterclass for anyone interested in trying the sport for themselves.
In the afternoon, club members will battle it out in their very last tournament of the season – the George Carter Bowl.
As always, spectators are welcome at both tournaments for an admission fee of £10 per car. Gates open to the public at 1pm on Saturday and 10.30am on Sunday, and visitors are encouraged to take along a picnic and make a day of it.
