Polo at its best - Summit Cup 2012

2012-06-11

Spectators were treated to some fantastic polo

Another weekend of exciting polo! Despite a week of bad weather, the weekend avoided being a complete wash out and sunny spells made for an enjoyable two days of polo and picnics. A fantastic turnout of cars lined the pitches to watch closely fought matches in the tournament, sponsored by Summit Media, who also hosted 200 guests for a VIP day of indulgent food, drink and polo. This year’s Summit Cup provided another fast-paced tournament with four of the best teams in Yorkshire, proving an exciting watch for the hundreds of spectators. After a closely fought match of fast-paced polo, team Summit conquered the other teams to be crowned 2012 champions.

The weekend also saw the tournament debut of the club’s 2012 Pro-Am competitors – six beginners who have completed ten weeks of intense training with Tony Wesche and their team professional. All the players conquered their nerves and after a very exciting match, the eventual winners were team Tormenta.

This year’s party on Saturday night took us back in time to the Ancient Greek Olympics, as Guests competed in various games in an attempt to be crowned honorary gladiator of the games. A fine feast fit for the Gods ensued, followed by Greek music and dance, for a night to remember.
