YORKSHIRE’S TOP POLO CLUB SEES BOOM IN INTEREST FROM THE SOUTH

Yorkshire’s top polo destination, White Rose Polo Club, has been experiencing a boom in interest from the South as Londoners look to the North for an alternative to the maddening crowds of the City during this Jubilee and Olympic year - and if the new announcement of the 2012 polo diary is anything to go by, it’s an exciting year to get involved in this fast-growing sport. Set in the idyllic East Yorkshire countryside, White Rose Polo Club is the largest in Yorkshire. Teaching thousands of lessons each year, and hosting a range of events throughout the polo season – May to September. Preparations for the three main tournaments are already well under way…

The Summit Cup, 9th and 10th June, is one of the flagship tournaments of the season, sponsored by Summit Media. An unforgettable atmosphere is created by the hundreds of spectators who line the pitch with their picnics to accompany this spectacular weekend of high level, exciting polo, played by teams from across the country. As always, there will also be a fabulous themed party on the Saturday evening, and this year Summit welcomes you to the Ancient Greek Olympics!

The Castle Howard Cup, 23rd and 24th June, is an exhibition polo event sponsored by Paladin Capital, offering a quintessentially English day out against the magnificent backdrop of Castle Howard - one of the finest historic houses our region has to offer. Bring a special polo picnic, or be a VIP for the day and receive royal treatment in the VIP marquee where you’re guaranteed an unforgettable day with all the trimmings. With spectacular views over the pitch to the house, and food served by the Star Inn at Harome washed down with plenty of Champagne, you can truly experience VIP treatment in the most spectacular surroundings.

The Yorkshire Open Polo Championships, 11th and 12th August, offer the chance to watch sixteen teams from across the county, competing at three levels, battling it out to become Yorkshire’s Open Polo Champion 2012. Enjoy two fabulous days of polo watching 16 teams from around the county compete to lift Yorkshire's polo crown. Don't forget to pack a picnic, Pimms, Champagne and friends to this super weekend for all.

Hedley Aylott, Founder of White Rose Polo Club, said: “It’s exciting to get the 2012 polo season under way, and we think it’s going to be our best year yet with such a wide variety of tournaments which are fantastic for players and spectators alike. We’re incredibly lucky in Yorkshire to be surrounded by such spectacular scenery, and polo offers the perfect opportunity to soak it up.”
